Quick Write Thirty Five: Create the Mood

  • 0

Today's Quick Write Challenge!

Today you will "Create the Mood" by choosing an option below to write about.  Make sure to use vivid word choice to help you set the mood for your story.

OPTION ONE

The wind howled like a banshee, the thunder rolled, and the lightning drew zigzag lines across the sky. With the sights and sounds of the thunderstorm cloaking his room, Charlie awoke from his night’s sleep. As he peeked out from under the covers, a dark, shifting shadow appeared on the wall of his room.

Write this story and create either a "scary" mood OR a "mysterious" mood with your word choice and imagery.

OPTION TWO

Write a scene in which at least one of these emotions is the driving force behind the mood of the scene/story.

Some "Scenes" to possibly use:

1. A crime scene where your character is the head investigator

2. A war scene where your character is the general in charge of sending soldiers to fight

3. A scene where your character is lost in a place and cannot seem to find their way home
